Pelo segundo ano consecutivo, estamos a participar no "SAKURAJIMA RADISH CONTEST", Projecto em que estão envolvidas 30 escolas Japonesas. Trata-se do cultivo de Sakurajima Radish, para apuramento do maior exemplar produzido. Sakurajima Radish é uma espécie de nabo Japonês, originário da Ilha de Sakurajima, que pode atingir os 30kg. Vamos utilizar duas qualidades de sementes desta espécie: as que nos foram enviadas pelo professor Tsutomu Iyanagi da colheita do ano lectivo anterior, e as que vieram do gabinete oficial do concurso, "THE DAIKON", de Sakurajima, no Japão. Vamos acompanhar o desenvolvimento deste vegetal em três espaços diferentes: um espaço na EB2,3 de Cacia, um espaço na EB1 de Vilarinho e um espaço na EB1 do Cabeço. Algumas sementes serão também cultivadas em vasos, em casa dos professores envolvidos no projecto.
We are participating for the second year in a row in the "SAKURAJIMA RADISH CONTEST", a project in which 30 Japanese schools are involved. We are growing Sakurajima Radish, to determinate the biggest produced specimen. Sakurajima Radish is a kind of Japanese turnip, originally from the Sakurajima Island, that can reach 30 kg. We will use two kinds of seeds from this species: the ones that Mr. Tsutomu Iyanagi sent us from his harvest in the last school year, and the ones sent to us by the official bureau of the contest, "THE DAIKON", in Sakurajima, Japan. We will follow the growth of this vegetable in three different spaces: one in EB2,3 Cacia, another in EB1 Vilarinho and another in EB1 Cabeço. We will also grow some seeds in pots, at the houses of the teachers involved in the project.
